WORD ON PHUKET MUSIC SCENE: The Phuket world Musiq Festival blasted off last night with an explosion of sounds from around the globe at Sapan Hin.
After a spectacular opening ceremony of dance and fireworks presided over by Phuket Govenor Tri Akaradecha, Mayor Somjai Wattanasanuk and Paiboon Ubatising, Thai and international talent took to the stage in honour of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday celebrations, culminating on December 5th.
Addressing the hundreds that turned out to experience the traditional and new-age music on stage, Governor Tri said the event would give the Phuket music scene a boost as an international destination.
The entertainment for the free four-day event then got off to a start with Tod Tongdee leading song and dance for the ‘music without borders’ concert.
Samba drums then took to the stage with a funky rendition of music composed by the king, followed by an appearance by northern Thailand sensation Lana Cummings.
