WORD ON PHUKET CABINET MEETING: Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and cabinet members approved at least 6 infrastructure projects proposed for Phuket and allocated a total budget of THB 338 million.

A total of 117 projects around the Andaman region were also given approval and allocated a total budget of THB 80 billion.

Projects in Phuket and Phang Nga given the nod include the following:
Reservoirs and water supply – THB25 million
Public water supply from Baan bang Jo to Phuket International Airport – THB24.84 million
Upgrade water transport facilities, such as piers – THB 17.3 million
Preservation of historical buildings in Srisoonthorn area – THB 9.11 million
Traffic control (Speed traps at traffic lights) – THB 17 million
Road expansion on Chao Fa West Rd – THB 20 million
In Phang Nga province, the following projects have also been approved with a total budget allocation of nearly THB 108 million:
Land reclamation
Construction of a tsunami memorial / public park
Road improvements in Kao Lak

Krabi was given approval for construction of emergency shelters in case of natural disaster – THB 99.34 Million
Trang province was granted THB 10.4 Million and Ranong THB 83 Million THB
